Reap rewards from this day

A ONE-day investment of time attending an exciting regional business event on Basing View could pay dividends, says the managing director of Destination Basingstoke.
Felicity Edwards said businesses of all sizes are set to benefit from the free event called BE INSPIRED, which will take place at vacant office spaces in Belvedere House, on Thursday, April 19, with the aim of ensuring that businesses in the area are equipped with the information, services and advice they need to succeed.
Organised by the Destination Basingstoke team, the one-day event, which is sponsored by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, the Enterprise M3 LEP and Hampshire County Council, will include an exhibition of local business services, the launch of a new local business support website, plus a number of useful seminars and workshops, including one from Mark Jones, editor of The Gazette, which is the media partner for the event.
It will also feature topical subject areas such as access to finance, apprenticeships, as well as advice and seminar sessions from HMRC.
Felicity said: “The event will bring together, and showcase, many of the activities and agencies that support and nurture growing businesses in the area, and give all the chance to learn and exchange new ideas.
“There is lots of help out there for new and growing businesses – we want to bring it all together under one roof.
“We think this will be a one-day investment of your time that will pay dividends over the years ahead.”
The event will provide an opportunity for local businesses of all sizes to promote themselves, exchange ideas and demonstrate best practise.
Larger and more established businesses will be offering mentoring sessions and advice to smaller start-ups, demonstrating the supportive nature of the region’s business community.
In 2009, Business Link organised the first BE INSPIRED event which was well received and attracted more than 1,000 attendees.
Felicity hopes this April’s event will be just as successful and is encouraging local businesses to get involved.
A limited number of exhibition stands are open to local businesses with prices from £250 plus VAT, and there may also be opportunities to lead relevant workshops.
