Roar of lion dance welcomes Dragon

ENTER the dragon – this year looks set to be a stellar year for business.

That is according to Alan and Pam Cheng, proprietors of The Mayflower Chinese Restaurant in May’s Place, in Basingstoke’s Top of The Town.

Pam said: “The Year of the Dragon is considered to be the luckiest year in the Chinese zodiac calendar and so it should be a good year for entrepreneurs and small-business owners.”

Ever-optimistic Pam added: “I know it is going to be a tough year for many and it’s going to be hard work, but I think if we all focus on what we do, we will get there and everyone will have a good year.”

To ensure good fortune for business in Basingstoke, the packed restaurant celebrated the lunar Chinese New Year in traditional style with lion dancing, which proved to be entertaining with its diners and passers-by alike. The dancing was performed by the World Eagle Claw Kung Fu Association Lion Dance Team.
